Garden Plaques

First found in ancient Greece, decorative garden plaques were created from rich stones like marble to help decorate the area. Originally captivated in greek gardens, these uniquely designed garden plaques are nothing new to ancient societies.

Marble was a popular stone that was used to help decorate and manipulate the architecture and landscapes of gardens and homes. Utilizing designs of nature and higher beings, typically engraved into the stone itself. Our previous understanding of this marble has changed as we used to believe that stones were never painted or colored. At this point we've come to realize that indeed we have misconstrued the past as the Greeks used a lot of vibrant colors and designs. The garden setting as we know it today can be directly connected with the ancient Greek designs.

Most of the modern garden statues and designs can be directly attributed to these ancient designs, as most directly resemble similar designs or are also made from marble and other expensive stones. Until recently the styles used subtle and less vibrant colors to not distract the viewer from the garden. Although we've now begun to see very exquisite colors and designs starting to be used. You can now see influences of designs from Mexican, Spanish and even French cultures.

The new garden plaques use unique designs, shapes and colors. Using colored stones and plaques rather then the uncolored and usually more boring plaques. Garden plaques come in just about any shape or style imaginable, from hanging garden holders to stepping stones. Most of the garden plaques that you will come across today still resemble a lot of the old styles, nature pictures, and even ancient Gods and Godesses. Garden plaques are even now based on Disney cartoon animals and movie characters. Garden plaques have even moved indoors as well, meshing the wall hanging style with the indoor decor. This is commonly referred to as as the cottage style design, as you can use outdoor garden decor inside your home.

New plaques, and even some old have even been used for stepping stones. Just imagine connected your lake or river to your house using unique garden stones. Don't get stuck with the idea that you only can use your stones as garden centerpieces, you can now use those older run down plaques as stepping stones. This adds another layer of design over the general and more common paving stones that are used in gardens.

Garden plaques are a great way to compliment your garden decor and style. These small additions can greatly hanger the way your garden appears, providing a new variety of detail never offered before. Be sure that you purchase higher quality garden plaques, don't buy cheap knock offs that were produced cheaply as you'll only be cheating yourself.
